TPLF commanders to surrender weapons as Tigerian children clamour for school reopening

It has been confirmed according to a reliable source that the commanders of the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) will surrender their heavy weapons coming Saturday following talks between senior army and TPLF commanders.

This decision came barely a week when a group of children from Tigray’s capital Mekele took part in a peace parade with many hoping that the ceasefire agreed between Ethiopia’s government and rebels may mean they can soon return to school

The Ethiopian ambassador to Kenya, Bacha Debele, has revealed that fighters for the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) will be surrendering their heavy weapons on Saturday due to logistical agreement between the two sides.

Ambassador Debele made the announcement in a viral video surfaced on YouTube.
He revealed the field marshals are “meeting every day” to deliberate on the disarmament process and TPLF fighters are gathered in specific areas.
But Tigray is also sending signals that it will not disarm its fighters unless Eritrean and other forces accused of abuses withdraw from its territory.

Since fighting broke out in 2020, schools and other services have been closed for over two years in Tigray
The Ethiopian government and the TPLF signed a peace agreement in South Africa early this month to peacefully end the two-year devastating
