The Turkish government has strongly condemned what they have termed as “terrorist attack” in the lower Shabelle region of Somalia. Turkey has extended condolence to the relatives as well as friends and government for the loss of their loved ones.
On Wednesday, At least 20 people among them a district commissioner were killed in a deadly suicide bombing in Marka, Lower Shabelle region. Sources in the town indicated that Marka District Commissioner Abdullahi Ahmed Waafow was among those killed during the attack, while five other people were injured.
The suicide bomber is reported to have blown himself up at the district headquarters building shortly before noon leaving death and destruction. Al-Shabaab immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
