UN report points accusing finger to Ethiopian gov’t over Tigray atrocities

In a new report surfacing from the UN, investigators have blamed the federal government of Ethiopia with a claim that the government is behind ongoing crimes against humanity in the northern Tigray region.

Describing the humanitarian crisis in Tigray as shocking, the report concludes that human rights violations have been committed by all sides since fighting erupted nearly two years ago.
But the direction of the blame is heavily on the side of the Ethiopian government.

Although no comment yet on the side of government spokesperson but Ethiopia authority have accused Human Rights NGOs and UN as being biased on the Tigrey war citing the influence of Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesuswho is an Ethiopian public health researcher, and the Director-General of the World Health Organization.

In a separate report, the Commission of Human Rights Experts on Ethiopia pinpointed what it called credible information of large-scale killings committed by Ethiopia’s national defence force that targeted Tigrayan men and boys of fighting age. Again, the allegations the federal government had denied.
The reports highlighted evidence that starvation as weapon being used in the civil war.

The war between the federal government and the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF), has resumed at full scale last month just when the hope of negotiations is at a peak.

The two sides agree that the first shots were fired in the early morning of 24 August on the southern borders of Tigray, where it adjoins the neighbouring Amhara state at the town of Kobo. Each side blames the other for firing those shots.
UN Investigators beleive that the recent resumption of the conflict after a five-month truce increases the risk of further atrocities.
