

The UN Security Council has added three senior Al-Shabaab militants to its sanctions lists following a resolution adopted on Friday. The UN security forces said these three senior al shabaab fighters play a role for terrorizing civilians in the country.
Abukar Ali Aden who is the deputy leader of Al Shabaab is among those in the sanction list. The second one is Moalim Ayman who is believed to be the commander of Jaysh Ayman, he was accused of engaging in acts that threatened peace and security in the country.
The third one is Mahad Karate, who is the ex deputy leader of Al Shabab and a powerful figure. Ambassador Erica Barks-Ruggles, a Senior Bureau Official of the Bureau of International Organization Affairs, welcomed the move by the Security Council.
This comes just days after A US airstrike hit Al-Shabaab training base in Burta Kumba approximately 12 kilometres from Jamame town in the Lower Juba region where the federal government said it was a planned operation targeted al shabab fighters and killed 15 of them as well wounded unspecified number.
