The United States military has donated armored vehicles to the Danab Special Forces who have been leading campaigns against Alshabab in Central and Southern Somalia.
The donations were received by the Chief of Defense Forces General Odowaa Yusuf Rageh, who has been coordinating a crackdown against Al-Shabaab in Middle and Lower Shabelle in recent months.
For years, the US has been a security partner with Somalia, offering both logistical and monetary support, in the process of building the Somali National Army, which is supposed to take security responsibilities from foreign troops next year.
U.S. resources assist the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) to defeat al-Shabaab group that still controls urban and rural territories.
Al Shabaab fighters were said to have retaken control of some government held areas in Mudug region.
Reports say the group launched a counterattack against the federal troops after they shortly abandoned their base. The attack left the death and injuries on both sides
