First Lady of the United States, Dr Jill Biden, arrived in Kenya on Friday afternoon for a three-day visit.She is accompanied by her granddaughter Naomi Biden .
The plane carrying Jill Biden touched down at 4:28 pm at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport amid tight Security. She was warmly recieved by Kenya’s first lady Raechel Ruto and EAC CS Rebecca Miano.
Jill Biden travelled to Kenya from Namibia,with her visit aimed at focusing attention on the worst drought to hit the Horn of Africa in decades.
Her visit is also aimed at deepening American ties with Africa, which has become a diplomatic battleground since Russia invaded Ukraine last year.
She is expected to visit the Joyful Women Program, where she will get a chance to experience table banking; a transformational economic empowerment model championed by Mama Rachel Ruto, which operates under Mama Doing Good Organization.
Jill Biden is the first senior White House official to travel to the region since her husband President Joe Biden came to power.
