The United states of America announced plans to level up its ties with Somalia. The secretary of state Antony Blinken noted that security, economy, terrorsim and diplomacy would be the main issues the two countries aim to cooperate with.
The United States plans to extend additional support to the communities living in the stricken areas affected by the drought where thousands of people lost their livelihoods in the past few months. Millions of others fled from their residential homes in search of better places.
The state department’s statement came after Somalia had recently elected a new president and the parliament unanimously approved the appointed new prime minister who is expected to form a cabinet in the coming days.
