US Under-secretary visits Somalia, meets Prime minister

Mogadishu, Aug 5 (Somaliland.com):- The Prime Minister of Somalia, Hassan Ali Khaire, met with the US Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs, David Hale, in the country’s capital city today.

Mr. Hale arrived in Mogadishu following an official invitation from the Prime Minister.

Mr. Hassan Ali Khaire and Mr. David Hale held talks, discussing the current political situation in Somalia. Mr Khaire took to his Twitter handle to announce that he was:

Undersecretary Hale also met with senior officials from the United Nations to discuss the political, security, and economic reform agenda of Somalia.

On August 6, Undersecretary Hale will pay tribute to the victims of August 7, 1998 embassy bombings in a commemoration ceremony in Nairobi. He will also meet with senior government officials to further promote bilateral relations in the areas of economic and security cooperation.

Undersecretary Hale will be in Khartoum on August 7 to meet with representatives from the Transitional Military Council and Forces for Freedom and Change, along with civil society actors, including women and youths, who have stood at the forefront, demanding change in Sudan. He intends to encourage full and timely implementation of the agreements reached on July 17, and August 4, to create a civilian-led transitional government and underscored expectations that the transitional government will reflect the will of the Sudanese people.
