Armed men shot dead a famous poet and traditional elder, Badal Jama Hirsi, on Monday evening as he left a mosque in Mogadishu’s Kaxda district.
No group has claimed responsibility for killing the famous poet and traditional elder Badal. Security agencies in the Kaxda district have begun a security operation to search for the shooters behind the killing.
Federal and regional state leaders have expressed their condolences over the death of the poet Badal Jama Hersi. They added that poet Badal was one of the peacemakers in Galmudug and has always been a champion of peace and state-building efforts in Somalia.
The killing of the poet comes hours after eight people were injured following an Al-Shabab mortar attack that targeted the parliament building in Mogadishu.
