President Emmanuel Macron of France has echoed calls from global leaders for a swift end to the Gaza conflict, throwing his weight behind US President Joe Biden’s cease-fire initiative, in a bid to bring peace to the troubled region.
In a post on X in Arabic, Hebrew, and English, Mr. Macron noted that “the war in Gaza must end. We support the US proposal for a durable peace. Just as we are working with our partners in the region on peace and security for all.”
He added that “the release of the hostages, a permanent ceasefire to work towards peace and progress on the two-state solution.”
CBATV earlier reported that the US president presented the Palestinian resistance group, Hamas, with a three-phase deal that would end hostilities in the besieged Gaza Strip.
The deal includes the push to secure the release of hostages held in the coastal enclave.
The US president urged Hamas to accept the deal and called on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to resist pressure from members of his governing coalition who are opposed to the plan.
No fewer than 36,400 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since Israel began its retaliatory onslaught in response to the October 7 Hamas attack.
The majority of those killed have been women and children, with more than 82,400 others injured, according to health authorities in Gaza
