More than 2,300 people have now been confirmed dead in the Gaza Strip in the raging hostilities between Israel and Hamas fighters. The death toll in Gaza has climbed above 2,300, according to authorities.
In total, 2,329 Palestinians have been killed and 9,714 have been injured, according to the health ministry.
On the Israeli side, more than 1,300 people have been killed while several others have been injured.
Israel says it has been carrying out what it called retaliatory air strikes in Gaza, and a ground offensive is expected.
In the meantime, The United Nations Relief and Works Agency operating in Gaza has said its shelters in the northern part of the territory “are not safe anymore” – calling it “unprecedented”.
The agency said “This war should be no exception, adding that “Wars have rules.”
“Civilians, hospitals, schools, clinics and UN premises cannot be a target.”
“Protection of civilians and civilian infrastructure including UN buildings applies to this conflict too.” The agency said.
Reports say despite Israeli officials’ orders for Palestinians to move to the south, many people, including pregnant women, children, the elderly, and those with disabilities, will be unable to leave the area.
Nearly one million people have been displaced since the beginning of the face-off.
Organizations and governments are working hard to get humanitarian aid to those in desperate need, including hundreds of thousands of children.
