

The German Ambassador to Djibouti and Special to the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Her Excellency Heike Fuller, recently visited the IGAD headquarters to engage in discussions on a variety of issues of mutual interest.
Muhammad Abdi Ware, Deputy Executive Secretary IGAD, Former Special Envoy welcomed the German envoy.
The talks focused on peace and security in the region, the potential for regional economic integration through infrastructure investments, and socio-economic development.
During the meeting, both parties underscored the importance of the strong partnership between Germany and IGAD.
Germany’s support is provided both bilaterally and through the European Union, enhancing the collaborative efforts in the region.
Key German institutions, such as the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GiZ) and the KfW Development Bank, were highlighted as crucial implementing and resource partners.
Ambassador Fuller expressed her pleasure in the constructive discussions, noting the potential to leverage German expertise and resources to address regional challenges effectively.
The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to strengthen cooperation and explore further opportunities for collaboration in addressing the pressing issues facing the IGAD member states.
