The President of the Hirshabelle State of Somalia has denounced the new schedule for the regional parliamentary elections. He further stated that the technical committee could not issue further decisions until the members of the committee are well established.
According to the statement, the president of the Hirshabelle region Mohamed Abdi Ware denounced the election schedule issued by the technical committee and the selection of the members of the second parliament of the region on Tuesday.
The statement pointed out that the schedule issued by the technical committee was not realistic and did not reflect the current situation in Hirshabelle and could not be acted upon, and that the technical committee for the selection of the second parliament needs to be completed with the addition of women members and that the committee should be given training in order to improve their capacity.
President Ware directed the Ministry of Interior to prepare a training schedule, in collaboration with the Federal Government, as well as to organize a reconciliation conference for the communities in the state. The President insisted that the technical committee could not issue further decisions until the members of the committee are well established.
