The President of Hirshabeelle State of Somalia Mohamed Abdi Waare has officially resigned after a tenure of divisiveness and incompetence. This comes a few days before the expiration of his term in office.
Mohamed Abdi Waare, The leader of Hirshabelle state, has announced his resignation from the office ahead of the expected presidential election of the state. Ware said he decided to leave office to pave the way for fresh minds to lead the State.
He also accentuated his dissatisfaction with the way the traditional and other stakeholders of Hirshabelle State carry the election process and proposed the selection of the regional lawmakers to be postponed for a month until the federal lawmakers are selected so as to give the state a chance to decide its fate.
But elders in Hiiraan region accused him of breaching all agreements and running the state from Mogadishu. The elders dismissed Waare as a ‘failed leader’ who was ‘never in charge’.
His tenure which started in October 2017 after he took over from Ali Abdullahi Osoble has been marked by underdevelopment and divisions among clans in the state which is made up of Middle Shabelle and Hiiraan regions.
