Jubaland President and US military officials discuss fighting Alshabab

The president of Jubbaland state of Somalia Ahmed Mohamed Islam Ahmed Madobe has met with US military officials in Kismayo, according to a statement from the Jubbaland presidency.

The meeting took place at the Jubbaland State House in Kismayo, and was attended by President Ahmed Madobe, Commander of the Jubbaland Forces Brigadier General Mohamed Abdi Sheikh and his Deputy Mohamed Guled Hassan.

“The meeting focused on intensifying the fight against al-Shabaab, with full co-operation” the Somali presidency said in a statement.

The horn of African nation has been facing instability for the past few decades and security in Somalia in terms of international resource allocation and political attention is dominated by the onslaught of al-Shabaab Islamist organization against FGS.

There have been series of attacks, according to a US report in the capital Mogadishu, claiming millions of lives since the group took control of certain regions of the country and several attempts have also been made on the foreign security bases on the mission to repel most of their activities.
