The Kenyan defence forces have claimed to have destroyed an Al Shabaab base in Mandera county. The development comes barely a week after Mandera county governor, Ali Ibrahim Roba sent distress calls for help to deal with al-Shabaab fighters in the county.
According to reports,Kenyan special forces killed two al-Shabaab fighters following a security operation in Mandera county in the area between Guticha and Olla.
The Kenyan government says the operation was successful, two Al Shabaab fighters were neutralised during the raid and Two rifles were recovered. Alshabab has not yet commented on this Kenyan claim.
Al Shabaab which is based in Somalia carries out attacks in southern and central Somalia but sometimes in the regional countries including Kenya. The group wants to establish an Islamic state for their own interpretation.
