Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni is expected to address the Puntland parliament tommorow, briefing them on the failure of talks between the federal government and federal member states in Mogadishu.
A spokesman for Puntland’s presidency said that once Deni completes the public consultation, Puntland will take a firm stand against the unconstitutional extension by the Somali parliament and president.
Puntland President Said Deni has been in Mogadishu for one month in an effort to discuss and solve Somalia’s political impasse in the upcoming election.
But as talks continued, the Somali government declared the consultation a failure, prompting members of the lower house of parliament to approve an election law that extended the term of government institutions by two years.
The bill, which the Upper House rejected, was signed by President Farmajo on Tuesday.
