International Court of Justice (ICJ) has postponed the hearing of the Somalia-Kenya Maritime border dispute case.
According to Somalia’s ambassador to the EU, Ali Said Fiqi, the ICJ informed both neighbouring countries that the dispute case on the maritime territory has been shifted to November.
The envoy who confirmed the postponement dispelled reports claiming a twelve-month-hiatus, and affirmed that the hearing of the case will kick off on the 4th of November.
This development came just a week after Kenya requested that the hearing of case be delayed for twelve months, pushing forward the claim that it was recruiting a new defense team as her excuse for requesting for the delay.
In its response, Somalia opposed the demand and termed it as deeply troubling.
The hearing of the case was initially slated for September 9.
