ID4Africa 2025: Ethiopia chosen to Host Annual General Meeting

Ethiopia has been selected to host the 2025 Annual General Meeting of the ID4Africa Movement, the National ID Program confirmed in a press statement. The announcement was made at the 2024 ID4Africa annual general gathering on Digital Identity, held this week in Capetown, South Africa.

The Ethiopian delegation, led by Head of the National ID Program Yodahe Araya-Sellasie and Ethiopian Ambassador to South Africa Muktar Kedir, actively participated in the meeting. Yodahe highlighted the progress of Ethiopia’s Digital Identity program and the lessons learned.

“Ethiopia’s selection as the host country for the 2025 AGM is a testament to our unwavering commitment to the principles and goals of the ID4Africa Movement. Hosting this conference in Addis Ababa will give recognition to Ethiopia’s developmental and digital achievements,” Yodahe stated.

He emphasized Ethiopia’s advancements in digital public infrastructure and the rollout of an inclusive digital ID, which have significantly contributed to socio-economic development.

He also credited political support for establishing regulatory frameworks that foster digital innovation.

Yodahe assured that Ethiopian Airlines’ extensive network would facilitate travel for delegates, ensuring a seamless experience.

He also highlighted Ethiopia’s cultural heritage, diverse traditions, and tourist attractions, which will enrich the 2025 AGM.

Expressing gratitude to ID4Africa, Yodahe reiterated Ethiopia’s commitment to delivering an exceptional experience for all participants at the 2025 AGM.
