Israeli Military Launches Airstrikes in Gaza

Following the United States’ veto of a U.N. Security Council resolution proposed by Algeria, which sought an immediate humanitarian cease-fire to the Isreali-Hamas conflict, the Israeli military has launched airstrikes in both northern and southern Gaza.

According to reports from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the strikes on Wednesday targeted militants in the Khan Younis area of southern Gaza.

The strikes hit a residential area in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, claiming at least 17 Palestinian lives and leaving more than 34 others injured.

Eyewitnesses recounted that Israeli warplanes fired multiple missiles at the targeted house, leading to its collapse and caused severe damage to neighboring houses in the western part of the camp.

Further airstrikes were reported in Rafah, particularly in the Al-Shaboura neighborhood, in the early hours of Thursday.

These actions come amid previous threats by the Isreali military to send troops into the city, where a over 1.4 million Palestinians have sought refuge from the ongoing conflict.

Meanwhile, the Hamas-run Health Ministry in a press release on Wednesday confirmed that the Palestinian death toll from Israeli strikes in the Gaza Strip has risen to 29,313, with 69,333 individuals wounded.
