Robert Kibochi who recently assumed Chief of Kenyan Forces travelled to Somalia to observe the conditions of his forces fighting alongside Somalia forces to defeat Al-Shabab since 2011. Kenyan forces entered Somalia after two Spanish aid workers were kidnapped from Dadaab refugee camp in Kenya.
Mr. Robert said in speech to Kenyan forces in Somalia that he will equip them with the right machinery to overwhelm the enemy. He boosted their morale by called them arrowhead.
Al-Shabab’s act of the abduction severely damaged Kenyan tourism industry and forced Kenyan leadership to invade the primary bases of Al-Shabab to uproot the security Alshabab poses to Kenya and the region at the large. So far, a little military success has been achieved.
Al-Shabab carried out acts of terror in Kenyan capital Nairobi in broad daylight, something that made look Kenyan forces blunt and not effective arrowhead. Mr. Robert recognized it is a time his force to be effectively combat forces and have a strong sharpening.
Earlier this year, Al- Shabab broke through a heavily-guarded Manda Bay Airfield in Kenya used by both Kenyan and US military personnel resulting the death of US soldier and military contractors.
Ethiopia didn’t suffer a single Al-Shabab deadly assault despite sharing a long, unguarded border with Somalia and inflicting a painful losses to the Al-Shabab forces. The visit by Kenya’s military commander may change military tactics against Al-Shabab.
