Somaliland police force dispersed protesters in a land dispute with government. The police fired live bullets to disperse the demonstrators. Reports say two police men whom hurled, injured.
The government officials say they want to build a public institution but protesters disagreed with and thought they want to sell to a tycoon. The officials insisted on they make their plan a reality despite the ongoing protests which may grow in number.
The government’s version is that they want to build a local a bazaar for Wajaale district but residents lost confidence in the government’s national policy of the land distribution because of the wholesale of the public buildings in the last decade.
Land disputes are on the increase since President Muse came to office despite the land prices falling drastically and construction halted due to low level of remittances and the stagnant economy.
