The Governor and Mayor of Mogadishu, Yusuf Hussein Jimale (Madaale), has unveiled a Technical Plan Program. This initiative, developed in partnership with the Banadir Region Administration, the United Nations office in Somalia, and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), aims to provide comprehensive solutions for the IDPs.
The launch event saw the presence of key figures, including representatives from the United Nations, and the Humanitarian Coordinator, Mr. George Conway. A pivotal moment of the forum was the signing of a memorandum of understanding between these entities and the Ministry of Planning of the federal government of Somalia to bolster the Durable Solutions Unit (DSU) of the Banadir Regional Government.
Madaale, in his address, reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of the IDPs, emphasizing the administration’s dedication to ensuring access to fundamental rights such as education, healthcare, housing, and employment opportunities.
The regional authorities said that the Technical Plan Program is a clear indication of the collaborative efforts of local and international bodies to foster a stable and prosperous future for the displaced communities in Mogadishu.
