Residents of Mogadishu, the capital city of Somalia, have persisted in their peaceful demonstrations for a second consecutive day, expressing their support for Palestinians and denouncing Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.
The protestors, comprising diverse groups such as religious leaders, youth, and women, voiced their opposition to Israeli actions through anti-Israeli slogans and pro-Palestinian chants.
Amidst the rallies, participants displayed solidarity by waving Palestinian flags and holding placards bearing messages like “Stop the war crime,” “Free, Free Palestine,” and “We demand an end to the genocide in Gaza, Palestine.” Their collective demand echoed a call for an immediate cessation of Israel’s aggressive bombing campaign in Gaza.
Several protestors, interviewed by CBA TV, urged the global community to stand with Palestine and emphasized the need for international support to preserve human lives.
Furthermore, Somalia, in alignment with the international sentiment, unequivocally condemned the recent airstrike on the Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza as a “war crime.”
The Somalia Foreign Ministry issued a statement expressing deep concern, highlighting the tragic loss of life, which included over 500 individuals, among them women and children, with many others sustaining injuries.
The toll of the conflict has been devastating, with Israeli attacks claiming the lives of 4,137 Palestinians, including 1,524 children and 1,000 women, while casualties in Israel have exceeded 1,400 people.
