On Wednesday night, a remotely controlled mine hit a car in Mogadishu. Away from the scene, an eye witnesses said that an occupant in the SUV was injured by the blast. The eyewitness could offer no further information because he had to leave the scene immediately after the incident. The car was severely damaged. A volley of gunfire was heard all over the place. Police forces were immediately deployed to cordon off the street and commence investigation on the occurrence.
Incidents like this have become common place in the Somali capital city since the emergence of Al-Shabab’s; suicide bombers and remotely controlled explosive devices have been some of the conventional weapons of the militants when overwhelmed by Somalia’s army backed by AMISOM peacekeeping force.
We shall return with more details shortly.
