Hundreds of Mogadishu residents Monday turned up for a rally to express support for President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s initiative to revise the country’s constitution. Police and other security agencies have heightened the security situation in the country’s capital with many key roads heading to Daljirka Dahsoon, where the rally is being held closed
The rally, which was organized by the Banadir district administration drew the participation of several top government officials including Deputy Information minister Abdirahman Adala and the Mayor of Mogadishu Yusuf Madale.
Various government officials delivered speeches underscoring the significance of amending the constitution and its implication in driving the country into a more prosperous and brighter future. Officials said, The event provides a platform for dialogue and engagement, allowing stakeholders to express their views and aspirations for constitutional reform.
Recently, Former Somalian leaders, Sheikh Sharif and Farmajo, voiced their concerns regarding President Hassan Sheikh’s perceived reluctance to address their requests for inclusive dialogue on the proposed constitutional amendments. They called upon President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who supports the amendments, to reconsider his stance and halt the plans for constitutional revision.
