EU and Spanish Navy have facilitated training for some members of Somaliland’s Coast Guard along coast of Berbera.
The training comprised two main exercises. First, security of the the Somaliland’s long coast, estimated 800km, against sea piracy acts, weapon smuggling and terrorism. The second training was capacity building on rescue and disaster preparedness.
The training and exercises happened 30km east of Berbera, using Somaliland coast guard speedy boats, Spanish Navy ship and helicopters, different weapons and lifesaving materials.
