The President of Somaliland, Muse Bihi said the beginning of next year 2023 will be an election year for Somaliland and urged the public to participate in big numbers in the upcoming voter registration process that will commence December 28.
The President clarified that this voting registration process would be of great significance to those who lost their previous Voter ID cards, as well as, those who have reached the voting age and those who want to change their voting constituency.
The process costs Five Million US dollars to Somaliland as the President announced in a launching event of the national football league on Friday. Bihi sent a special message to the regions who did not register much in the previous elections to turn out in big numbers in this forthcoming registration exercise.
Political stakeholders have not yet reached a final agreement regarding which election should be held first as all sides are trying to control it. The official mandate of the national parties’ license will expire December 26 which the President said on Friday that they will be an “Interim” political parties.
