Somalia’s President, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, embarked on a visit to the Mahas district within the Hiiraan region, furthering his commitment to bolster ongoing military endeavors aimed at countering the al-Shabab across the Hirshabelle and Galmudug States.
During his stay in Mahas, President Hassan Sheikh is scheduled to engage in a series of consultations with key security figures, esteemed traditional leaders, and representatives from the Hiiraan administration’s two factions, with the overarching aim of addressing and resolving the prevailing political discord within the region.
He will convene discussions with both the former Hiiraan governor, Ali Jeyte Osman, and the presently appointed governor, Abdullahi Ahmed Maalin Sufurow, as part of an effort to reconcile their political disparities and recalibrate their collective focus towards the ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
President Hassan Sheikh, who has been spearheading these operations in Dhusamareb town for the past month, remains steadfast in his commitment to relentlessly combat terrorism until it is entirely eliminated from the nation’s landscape.
