

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia presided over a National Security Committee meeting aimed at intensifying efforts to combat Al-Shabaab. The meeting prioritized enhancing collaboration among government security branches and preparing for the upcoming New York security conference focused on Somalia.
During the session, the Committee received a comprehensive briefing from army commanders. President Hassan Sheikh commended the cooperative efforts of the Somali people in supporting the security forces, acknowledging the dedication of the military to serve the populace day and night.
The Committee expressed appreciation for the National Army’s successes on various frontlines, highlighting the liberation of several areas in Mudug, Galgaduud, Hiiraan, and Middle Shabelle regions, from Al-Shabaab influence.
As reported by the federal government, the army not only bolstered the morale of local forces but also encouraged them to actively participate in freeing their homes from Al-Shabaab militants. The Committee affirmed the commitment to advancing the second phase of the offensive, with the goal of eliminating remnants of the group from Hirshabelle and Galmudug regions.
