Protests against the France President Emmanuel Macron are Spreading across Islamic Countries.
A large number of protesters gathered on Tuesday in Burao, Somaliland to express their displeasure with Macron’s attitude towards Islam.
The huge and angry demonstrators took to the streets of Burao in Somaliland to express their anger over the French president’s defence of anti-Prophet Muhamed cartoons.
They burnt French flags and portraits of Macron while chanting ‘Down France and Long Live Islam’.
Some of the demonstrators who spoke to the media said that they have zero tolerance for anything against Prophet Mohammed (SAW) and Islam.
‘I swear to almighty Allah. We are strongly against anyone who defames our beloved Prophet Mohamed. We will fight and defeat him. We are ready to show support to our Prophet in action or words.’
‘Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar. Down France… Down France. Yes. Down. Down, and long live Islam and Muslims,’ the chants continued in myriad angry voices.
The backlash over French president Emmanuel Macron’s critique of Islam has intensified after Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan questioned his counterpart’s mental state as Muslims in several countries continue to call for a boycott of France products.
The French debate on Islam was deepened after the beheading of a teacher who had shown caricatures of Prophet Muhammad (SAW); previously published by a satirical magazine; in a class on freedom of expression.
Muslims believe that any depiction of the Prophet is blasphemous.
On Friday, the cartoons were projected onto government buildings in France. Earlier this month, Macron described Islam as a religion ‘in crisis’ worldwide and vowed to present a bill in December to strengthen a law that officially separated church and state in France.
