The political discord in Somalia’s Puntland state intensifies as opposition Presidential candidates object to the recent announcement of new parliament members who were sworn in today.
Opposition Presidential candidates in the state have voiced their disapproval of the appointed lawmakers, asserting that they do not acknowledge them as a valid legislative body. They allege deliberate interference by the incumbent regional leader in the selection process.
In an official press release, the opposition candidates reaffirm their steadfast commitment to abstain from participating in the forthcoming regional presidential election until the establishment of a legitimate legislative body.
Highlighting the escalating political challenges in the region, they caution the regional president against leading the state into conflicts, insecurity, and heightened political unrest.
