The President of the Puntland Government, Said Abdullahi Deni, has officially declared the establishment of a fresh 21-member Puntland Government Council, comprising a blend of seasoned ministers from the previous administration and new faces. The announcement was made last night, marking a strategic move towards a diverse and dynamic leadership team.
In a noteworthy step towards inclusivity, the new cabinet includes three female ministers, reflecting a commitment to enhancing the representation of women in decision-making roles within the Puntland Government.
Among the key appointments are Mohamed Abdiwahab Ahmed, who assumes the role of Minister of Justice and Religious Affairs, Ibrahima Artan Haji Bakin as Minister of Security, and Abdi Farah Said (Juha) taking charge of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Democracy. The crucial portfolio of Finance is entrusted to Mohamed Farah Mohamud.
Other prominent positions include Daoud Mohamed Omar as Minister of Planning and International Relations, Fuad Abshir Ader as Minister of Education and Higher Education, Said Jama Ali Qorsheel as Minister of Health, and Shakir Mohamed Guled as Minister of Ports and Maritime Transport.
Abdirahman Ahmed Abdulle will lead the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, Liban Muse Boqor will head the Ministry of Mines and Water, Ubah Abdirishid Mohamed Hirsi will oversee the Ministry of Relief and Humanitarian Affairs, and Mohamed Abdiqadir Salah (Donyale) will lead the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation. Hodon Saeed Hassan has been appointed as the Minister of Youth and Sports.
President Deni expressed confidence in the capabilities of the newly appointed ministers, citing their experience and professionalism.
He urged them to serve the people of Puntland with dedication and integrity as they embark on fulfilling the administration’s ambitious development agenda.
The swearing-in ceremony for the new ministers is scheduled to take place next week in Garowe.
The appointed ministers will serve a five-year term, during which they are expected to contribute to the realization of Puntland’s developmental goals and address the diverse needs of its citizens.
