In a recent development, the Sallahley Municipality in Somaliland held a convened meeting wherein the incumbent Mayor, Ahmed Buraale, and his deputy Mayor were suspended, the reasons for which remain undisclosed.
Under the chairmanship of Governor Mohamed Alin Timbaro of the Maroodijeh region, the members of the Sallahley municipality unanimously resolved to appoint Mohamed Abdi Haariye as the new mayor of the district, with Mohamud Beddel serving as his deputy.
The Ministry of Interior Affairs issued a statement extending congratulations to the newly appointed officials on their roles. This decision mirrors a similar occurrence a few months ago in Buroa Municipality, where the mayor was replaced through a similar process of election and appointment.
