Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) launched airstrikes on Sunday targeting Rapid Support Forces (RSF) positions in the village of Al-Qutaynah, located in White Nile State, 75 kilometers south of Khartoum, resulting in the death of seven civilians.
The conflict in Sudan, initially centered around Khartoum, has now expanded to various parts of the country.
This airstrike marks the latest indication of the conflict spreading southwards from the capital, Khartoum, compelling more people to flee the country.
While the Sudanese Armed Forces control the skies, the Rapid Support Forces maintain control over the streets of the capital, Khartoum, nearly the entire western Darfur region, and, with their push into Al-Jazira state, have disrupted one of the country’s few remaining sanctuaries.
Despite efforts by the United States, Saudi Arabia, and the IGAD regional bloc to secure a negotiated peace, the conflict continues to escalate, with the latest events reflecting a dire humanitarian situation and an urgent need for intervention.
