Soldiers Killed, Others Injured in Mogadishu Landmine Blast

A landmine explosion claimed the lives of two government soldiers and left three more wounded in Heliwa district. The soldiers, who were part of the mine detection forces in the area, fell victim to the blast. no civilians were harmed, as confirmed by security agencies.

The deceased soldiers were swiftly taken to the C.I.D. department, while the injured ones received urgent medical care at Madina Hospital in Mogadishu, according to eyewitnesses.

Despite the incident, district officials have remained silent about the casualties, and so far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack. However, it is noteworthy that similar attacks against government forces and African Union troops have been orchestrated by al-Shabab in the past.

The federal government had previously issued warnings to the public, urging vigilance in light of al-Shabab’s increased attacks following their recent losses on the battlefields. The incident serves as a grim reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by the residents in the capital.
