Somali opposition leader Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame has condemned the deadly truck bombing in Mogadishu’s Ex-Control intersection this morning.
Warsame termed the attack unconscionable, heartless and un-Islamic and urged Somalis to unite in the fight against the militant group Al-Shabaab, who he said were behind the attack.
Warsame wrote on his Twitter handle. “I condemn the unconscionable, heartless & unIslamic terrorist attack, carried out this morning by Al-Shabaab terrorists against innocent Somalis at Ex-Control Afgooye in Mogadishu. We must present a united front against the enemy,”
The Wadajir Party leader sent an appeal for blood donation to the many victims who were wounded in the horrendous attack.
“There is blood shortage in hospitals in the city and I call on the public to donate their blood to the wounded,” he said.
Latest reports say that at least 100 people have been killed in the attack which has not yet been claimed by Al-Shabaab.
However, many blame the Al-Qaeda-linked militant group which has in the past carried out similar attacks against civilian targets.
