Mogadishu- October 19, 2018. Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has called on his ministers to endorse the country’s electoral laws. During a weekly cabinet meeting that he chaired, the president emphasised on the importance of the electoral laws, saying they will facilitate credible elections in 2020. He also called on his ministers to ensure that parliament passes the laws.
The president also commended the Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khayre, saying that the teamwork exhibited by his team has made the plans to endorse the electoral laws fruitful. He, however, urged the prime minister to double his efforts to assist the government to realize these plans. The cabinet meeting also discussed recent developments in social affairs, security, and justice.
