Somalia and Somaliland Talks Is Expected To Resume

After years of stalled talks, they are expected to resume in Djibouti according to local sources. The donor countries is said pressurized both sides to jumpstart the political negotiations between Somalia and Somaliland.

Somalia’s president and its premier will attend the meeting, on the other hand, Somaliland delegation will be led by the president Muse Bihi Abdi.

Such talks happened in the past and born no fruits since Somalia and Somaliland maintain their infamous rigid stances of sacrosanct unity and restoration of a lost independence into a dustbin, respectively.

Since 2012, when the US afforded a recognition to Somali government, Somaliland lost momentum and its door to the outside world loudly slammed. Most of the aid directly given to Somaliland has been shifted to Mogadishu to redirect to Somaliland as though it is a rebel region of Somalia. Somaliland President Muse Bihi protested the destruction of bridges and the special arrangement the US and the US once dealt.
