The Somali Armed Forces have carried out an attack in Awdheegle in the Lower Shabelle region of Somalia where Al Shabaab Fighters were lodged. According to government officials, this also is an indication that the fighting between Alshabab and Government Soldiers have intensified recently.
The government’s military officials who led the fight informed local media that they have killed 16 Alshabab fighters including two senior commanders.
The Somalia government is yet to release the names of the 16 Alshabab fighters that were killed in the attack as claimed it, but it affirmed that it will continue its military campaign in Awdheegle, including Shamgare which is part of the district.
Government officials added that they are committed to minimising attacks by Alshabab. The government soldiers and Alshabab fighters have had severe clashes on several occasions in the lower shabelle region of Somalia.
Despite the expulsion of Alshabab from the major cities in the country, the group still carries out operations and attacks against government officials and international figures.
