The Somalia National Army, under the command of the armed forces, has disclosed additional details regarding a recent military operation conducted in the southern Mudug region, an area marked by ongoing hostilities.
The operation, a coordinated effort involving air and ground forces, targeted the Jeh Jeha area, where the Al-Shabaab group had fortified positions with large defensive structures.
According to official reports from the Somalia National Army, the operation conducted yesterday resulted in the death of nearly 100 fighters, including their unidentified leader. The forces also claimed to have successfully neutralized a vehicle transporting several Al-Shabaab leaders through a bombing, as stated in the official press release.
The Command expressed its commitment to concluding the ongoing operation in the Mudug region in the coming days, with the objective of liberating areas currently under Alshabab control.
However, these decisive actions unfolded shortly after the demise of the commander of the 18th battalion of the Gorgor unit, alongside soldiers, near Aad town on Saturday.
