The African Union transition mission in Somalia (ATMIS) issued a statement claiming that the African troops and the National defense forces of Somalia carried out a joint military operation in which they removed Alshabab from Ali Fooldheere forest in Middle Shabelle region.
The statement reads that the operation followed days of an all out ground and artillery offensive which concluded to flash out Alshabab from the location that has been a strategic place for Alshabab to plan its attacks as reported by ATMIS.
The statement did not explain if there were any casualties on the coalition side. But said, the troops are still carrying out similar operations in areas located North of Mahaday district of Middle Shabelle region.
However, the federal government has been carrying out operations targeting Alshabab hideout since last year, pledging the war will not stop until the elimination of Alshabab from across the country.
