According to the ministry of foreign affairs of Somalia, Abshir Omar Jama, The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia has engaged in a constructive dialogue with Dr. Hussein Ibrahim Taha, the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
During their meeting, the two officials delved into discussions concerning the pivotal role played by the OIC within Islamic nations, emphasizing its substantial contributions to humanitarian and developmental initiatives. The focus was particularly on Somalia, a nation grappling with multifaceted challenges such as drought, famine, terrorism, and political instability.
Minister Abshir Omar Jama expressed profound gratitude for the unwavering support extended by the OIC to Somalia and its people. He underscored the imperative for enhanced cooperation and coordination between the OIC and the Somalia government across diverse sectors.
In response, Secretary General Dr. Hussein Ibrahim Taha reiterated the OIC’s steadfast commitment to stand alongside Somalia, pledging assistance in the pursuit of peace, stability, and prosperity.
He commended the commendable progress made by the Somalia government in implementing the electoral process and combating extremist elements, notably the Al-Shabaab group.
