Galmudug security minister has presented a bill for the formation of Gamudug State police unit.
This bill was passed by a ministerial meeting of Galmudug State and requested its parliament to pass the bill draft into law.
‘It’s an honor for us to present the first draft bill of police creation before the parliament,’ said the minister of Security. ‘Galmudug constitution section 69 allows us to form police units. 69 Act was allocated to the articles that enforce police officers formations.’
Out of the federal and regional meetings that occurred in Bidoa on 24 June 2016, the formation of a police unit was endorsed both at the national and regional levels. Each of them has its mandate; the regional police forces have a limited mandate that allows them to operate in autonomy at the regional level.
However; the police draft bill has to be approved by the federal parliament before the local police force can be launched.
