Somalia Government Attributes Clan Conflicts to Al-Shabab’s Orchestrations

The Federal government of Somalia has unequivocally pointed fingers at the Al-Shabab group, attributing the recurrent clan conflicts in the Horn of Africa country to the machinations of this group. The government asserts that Al-Shabab will bear sole responsibility for these disturbances.

Somalia’s Minister of Defense, Abdiqadir Mohamed Nour, has alleged that Al-Shabab invests substantial resources in fomenting clan conflicts in Somalia, specifically targeting areas liberated from the group. The intention, according to Nour, is to disrupt residents and impede the ongoing anti-Al-Shabab operations in these regions.

In response to the escalating tensions, the government has issued a call to the public, urging vigilance against Al-Shabab’s aggressive maneuvers within their territories. The government’s plea emphasizes the critical need to restore peace and stability in areas recently plagued by clan conflicts.

The defense minister’s statement comes amid ongoing clan clashes in parts of the Middle Shabelle region, leading to a tragic loss of lives and injuries, as well as the displacement of numerous individuals from their homes.
