Sheikh Adan Mohamed Noor Madobe, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Somalia, hosted British Ambassador to Somalia, Mike Nithavrianakis, in a pivotal meeting in Mogadishu, underscoring the enduring and strategic partnership between the UK and Somalia.
The discussion centered around reinforcing the cooperative relationship between the Somalia Parliament and the United Kingdom. Ambassador Nithavrianakis reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to assisting the Parliament of Somalia, particularly in the completion of the Transitional Constitution and fostering improved collaboration between legislative houses.
This meeting follows the announcement of a strategic partnership between the United Kingdom and the Federal Government of Somalia earlier this week, marking a new chapter in their long-established relationship.
This partnership encompasses comprehensive initiatives in state-building, security, economic development, human rights, and climate change mitigation. Through bilateral engagement and convening key international partners, the UK has significantly supported Somali-led efforts to strengthen Somalia’s federal system, reduce conflict and instability, and support economic and social development.
