Somalia’s national army and security forces began to conduct wide range house and car searching campaign to check the security of the town. Both the local security forces backed by the Somalia Armed Forces body-search cars and drivers to foil al-Shabab’s attacks.
Abdiqadir Hussein Ibrahim of Balad-Hawo’s security forces official said, ‘the military operations are meant to prevent al-Shabab’s attacks.’ He called on the town’s people to cooperate with the Somalia army on security enhancement.
Balad-Hawo is in control of the Somalia security forces after forces led by Jubbaland ex-security minister Abdirashid Janan who was at war with Somalia’s government lost the town to Somalia’s national army.
This town occasionally faces shelling from Kenyan forces in Somalia and the shelling often causes civilian casualties.
In the past few weeks, Kenyan forces have been accused of kidnapping people from the town, however; the town still stable.
