The prime minister of Somalia Hamse Abdi Barre has bid farewell to the outgoing Turkish Ambassador to Somalia Ibrahim M. Yagli and expressing appreciation for his remarkable leadership and efforts in enhancing Somalia – Turkey bilateral relations during his tenure.
According to the office of the Prime minister, The Ambassador reciprocated the sentiment, commending the Somalia government and its people for their unwavering support during his term in Somalia.
Prime Minister Barre lauded Türkiye as a loyal ally that has stood by Somalia during challenging periods, emphasizing the importance of preserving the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of his country.
The Federal Government of Somalia cabinet ministers Wednesday approved a defense and economic agreement between Somalia and Turkey during an extraordinary meeting chaired by Prime Minister Hamse Abdi Barre.
The agreement, reportedly signed for a duration of 10 years, will see Turkey deploy its Naval Forces in Somalia waters for defense purposes.
