The Former Somalia Prime Minister Omar Arte Qaalib who died on Tuesday has been laid to rest in Hargeisa. Somaliland’s President Muse Bihi and other politicians were among prominent people who attended the funeral.
Those in attendance all sent their condolences to his family and the Somali community for the loss of their beloved Prime Minister.
Omar Arte died on Tuesday at the age of 90 in Hargeisa, Somaliland where he had recently been sick. He served as Somalia Prime Minister between 1991 to 1993.
From 1969 to 1977, he also served as Somalia’s Foreign Minister. During this time, he played role in peace agreements among East Africa countries including Uganda and Tanzania.
