President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia engaged in separate discussions with the President of Comoros and the Chairman of the African Union, Azali Assoumani, during the Italy-Africa Summit in Rome.
The conversations centered around regional matters of shared interest, emphasizing collaborative efforts to foster progress and prosperity for the African Continent. The discussions highlighted a commitment to upholding the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of all African Union member states.
It is unclear if the recently disclosed agreement between Somaliland and Ethiopia was part of their discussions as Somalia has actively pursued diplomatic channels to invalidate the aforementioned agreement since its announcement.
In response to escalating tensions in the region, the African Union had previously issued a statement urging restraint and advocating for meaningful dialogue to achieve a peaceful resolution to the matter.
